Chikyu Facial Cleansing Oil

I was very appreciative to Lynn for sending me her best selling product, but at first glance, I was hesitant to try a cleansing oil in place of my usual water based cleanser. In recent years, we've heard more people raving about the oil cleansing method, however, truth be told, I never got around to giving it a try. Thanks to Lynn from Chikyu, here's my opportunity!

Chikyu's Facial Cleansing Oil is quite the fierce cleanser. I use it at night to remove my sun defense minerals powder (sometimes liquid foundation), cream blush, powder and/ or cream eyeshadow, sunblock and facial oil. These are my "day face" products I use. The rich, smooth consistency of the oil massaged into my skin feels veerrrrrry nice, like a pampering treatment. The unique blend has a rich velvety feel with just enough oil to make the product move on the skin. There is NOT a heavy greasy feel to the product at all. 

When cleansing, 2 sprays from the bottle is enough product to massage and clean my "day face" products off. If I am wearing a heavier application of make-up, I cleanse with the oil a second time using 1 spray application. After a minute of working the oil into my skin, I use a soft cotton pad to remove the oil along with any make-up, excess oils, dirt and pollution from my day. In the picture below, you can see what was removed from my face on the cotton pad.

I'm not a washcloth person so I usually follow the cotton pad removal with a quick cleanse. A drop of Chikyu's Honey And Oats Facial Cleansing Lotion leaves my face feeling super happy and clean. For times when I just rinse off with water after cloth removal, my skin feels comfortably soft and moisturized. Either case, I no longer feel the layer of sunblock on my skin and all the make-up and grime appears on the cotton pad.

From someone who never tried oil cleansing, I definitely became a fan (within a week!) and can see why this facial cleansing oil is Chikyu's best seller.

Having combination skin, I feel this is a product very suitable for dry and combination skin types. The cleansing oil does say the oil is good for all skin types however, if you're in the oily skin group and are worried about breaking out, consider cleansing with this product once a day to be sure it doesn't affect your skin negatively (some worry that adding oil to an already oily skin complexion can cause them to break out with acne). When it comes to oily skin, it isn't best to strip your skin of all its oils as the skin will try to compensate the dry, stripped skin with more oil production. 

I definitely appreciate the luxurious feel of the product, with the light floral leafy fragrance. In addition to cleansing my face well, using Chikyu's Facial Cleansing Oil has other perks. Because it contains no water, I don't even think about synthetic preservatives. Although it has a shorter shelf life of 3-6 months, I really appreciate the simple ingredients which is reflective of the Chikyu philosophy of only using pure and simple. The oil blend combination including meadowfoam creates a silky smooth feel without leaving a greasy or oily feel behind and no synthetic sulfates means no oil or moisture stripping.

Marketing label: Chikyu's Facial Cleansing Oil is an amazing cleanser which removes dirt, grim, make-up, and excess sebum buildup without stripping or damaging the skin as many facial cleansers do. Contrary to popular belief, cleansing the face with oil will not irritate the skin nor will it cause acne, especially when using the right oils on your face.

After 4 weeks use, I found Chikyu's Facial Cleansing Oil to clean well, easily and simply, without making my face feel dry or oily. No breakouts to report whatsoever.

RAVE FACTOR 3.5 RAVES Simple ingredients that are pure, highly effective and definitely gentle on skin. Never used an oil to clean your face before?? This facial cleansing oil is worth giving a try.

**I did want to mention for those who prioritize shelf life, the shelf life of this product is 3-6 months. This is a chemical free product and comes with a sticker telling you when to use the product by. Personally, I prefer to use a chemical free product even if it means an early use by date.
