Chikyu Luminance Face Cream

Facial moisturizers help hydrate and place moisture back into our skin. These days I really look at moisturizer ingredients to ensure they help hydrate, help maintain the skin barrier and help fight free radicals. Meet Chikyu's Luminance Cream.

The ingredients in Luminance are wonderfully hydrating that I never need to reapply. (Currently, as I am still using this product), I use the cream primarily at night and it leaves my skin feeling soft and the dry patches on my cheeks are no longer dry. The ingredients are stars on their own but the combination of them is what I feel really makes this moisturizer effective.

The formula comes in a glass jar. The scent is fairly light which is nice (I don't like products that leave a heavy odor as it gives me headaches). It has an almost lotion like consistency which makes for smooth application and quick absorption. It's interesting because it feels like a lotion yet works like a cream. Two pea sized dollops are enough to moisturize my entire face, I find I don't need to use a whole lot. 

I used to adopt the thinking that the more ingredients a product contained, the better for my skin. These days, I've adopted a simpler mindset where I am very happy to use a product with a handful of quality unadulterated ingredients, preferably with less synthetic chemicals. This simplified method works for me especially since I have sensitivities. I appreciate the luxurious formula Chikyu has created in Luminance. Raw materials that are simple and pure, all working together harmoniusly; again reflective of Chikyu's skin care philosophy.

Ingredients we love:

Carrot Oil: contains apigenin, may be beneficial in preventing UVA/UVB induced skin carcinogenesis, has anti-inflammatory benefits

Cucumber Infused Water: anti-inflammatory and moisturizing benefits

Shea butter: helps protect skin from dehydration

Calendula: also contains apigenin, may be beneficial in preventing UVA/UVB induced skin carcinogenesis, has anti-inflammatory benefits

Aloe leaf juice: polysaccharides hydrate and soothe, has anti-inflammatory effect

Hyaluronic Acid:  a major component in the skin's extracellular matrix, helps the skin to regain elasticity, turgor and moisture

Multifruit BSC: alphahydroxy fruit acid blend helps to promote cell turnover to reveal more youthful, glowing skin

Pseudocollagen: plant based, moisturizing complex of sugars and proteins, helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines through its moisture binding properties

Marketing label: ...a lightweight, lavish and fast absorbing face cream formulated with superior, active ingredients such as Mulitifruit BSC (a natural fruit acid blend aka Alpha Hydroxy Acids), Hyaluronic Acid and Pseudo collagen. Together, these three natural active ingredients work in sync with a powerful blend of organic botanical extracts to aide in improving the skins elasticity as well as renew the radiance of the skin. Skin is instantly soothed, hydrated and rejuvenated. Over time, skin looks softer, firmer, more radiant and lines and wrinkles less visible. 

Thus far, after 5 weeks of use, I am still loving this lightweight cream. It hydrates my combination/ dry skin at night without having to moisturize again in the morning. It makes the fine lines underneath my eyes less noticeable, my skin feels smooth, soft and rejuvenated. During aesthetics practical, my classmates raved about how lovely a scent and nice texture the cream has! Numerous raves indeed.

**I did want to mention for those who prioritize shelf life, the shelf life of this product is 3-6 months. This is a chemical free product and comes with a sticker telling you when to use the product by. Personally, I prefer to use a chemical free product even if that means an early use by date.
