Elemental Herbs Sunscreen Sport SPF 33

What drew me to trying Elemental Herbs Sunscreen Sport is the Elemental Herbs company philosophy of always putting the planet first. Of equal importance, are the sunscreen’s organic ingredients like green tea extract, rose hip fruit oil and jojoba oil which are known for their hydrating and antioxidant benefits.

During my 4 weeks of use, the sunscreen sport tagged along with me on sunny days in the city as well as trips to the country. The UV index on most days the sunblock was applied was a 9, which is very high so I reapplied several times during the day as well as stayed in shaded areas when possible.

The sunblock itself feels like a light lotion and there is no smell that I can detect after applying it on my skin. It rubs in easily without turning me ghostly. The lotion is not greasy, however, there is a very slight stickiness initially that disappears within minutes of applying.

The sunscreen sport uses 22.5% zinc oxide which is a physical blocker offering broad UVA and UVB coverage. This sunblock does not contain any chemical sunscreen actives which makes it good for those with sensitivities to chemical sunscreen actives such as to PABA or benzophenone.

Organic Grape Seed Juice, Organic Camelia Sinensis (Green Tea) Extract: contains natural polyphenols that can help reduce inflammation, oxidative stress and DNA damaging effects of UV radiation in the skin

Organic Rosa Canina (Rose Hip) Fruit Oil: the phytochemicals, specifically Vitamin C and polyphenol content can provide antioxidant benefits

Organic Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil: softens skin, acts as an emollient, possible anti-inflammatory

Organic Butyrospermun Parkii (Shea Butter): Shea Butter is a great skin care emollient; Its fatty acid profile including palmitic, oleic, stearic and linoleic acids aid in moisture retention and cell regeneration

In my 4 weeks of use, I found the Sunblock Sport great for daily use. Although not labelled water resistant, this block is perfect for enjoying the outdoors when not swimming or sweating heavily and especially perfect for when I hike and walk.

I added this block to my sun protection arsenal, and it helped me remain sunburn free. Easy to apply, the sunblock is definitely a taker for the weekend bag. No wonder it made it to our Top Sunblocks List 2014!

*This product was provided to me by Elemental Herbs Inc., this product review is based on my own use of this product as sunscreen protection daily for 4 weeks (in June 2014). My skin type is Type 3 Skin (Fitzpatrick Skin Type) where I sometimes burn as well as tan. Please keep in mind everyone’s skin is unique and that you may have a different experience when using this product. Remember, sunscreen should be regarded as just one component of sun protection practices. Other methods include avoiding midday sun, the use of wide brimmed hats, long sleeve clothing, UV protective eyewear and sun protective clothing.
