Laurel Whole Plant Organics Almond Grain Facial Exfoliant

Facial exfoliants and masks are products designed to remove dead skin cells and provide nourishment for our skin. When looking for a good exfoliant, I definitely prefer a dry product without the use of any preservatives so I was feeling pretty excited to try Laurel Whole Plant Organics Almond Grain Facial Exfoliant.

This product can be used as an exfoliating scrub or as a mask.

What you see when looking inside the miron glass jar, is a mixture of dry, fluffy, ingredients.

The almond, honey like essence really captured and uplifted my mood; very calming.

As A Scrub
After approximating a teaspoon of product and adding a few drops of water, I rubbed my hands together and applied it to my face. I did find moving the product along the skin challenging and evenly distributing it, so on the next try, I added a few drops of a vegetable based cleanser (very basic in ingredients) and water, which then made the rubbing process better. During my exfoliating, I found the ingredients very mild and gentle, not harsh. I was definitely impressed as I naturally thought almonds would be somewhat abrasive. After rubbing for 35 seconds, I rinsed and gently pat my skin dry. My skin felt pretty good and didn't feel too dry. A small dab of moisturizing balm was the perfect finish to dewy-ing up my skin. Although my skin wasn't feeling irritated, the product had a soothing effect.

As A Mask
Trying the product with a few drops of water was again not as free moving, so I decided to add a few drops of the vegetable based cleanser along with water, mixed it together and applied it as a mask. After 10 minutes, rinsing off and patting dry, I found my skin feeling soft and not particularly dry. Again, I finished my routine with just a tiny dab of moisturizing balm.

Personally, I do obsess with scrubs so I probably would use this exfoliant in that manner more often, but I do like the botanical make up here and can use it as a nourishing, soothing treatment.

Let's take a look at some of the ingredients

Oats: contains many phytochemicals with antioxidant activity

Chamomile: shown to have anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and bacteriostatic properties, found to facilitate wound healing process

Nettle: anti-inflammatory and astringent qualities

Marshmallow: the polysaccharide content helps to soothe inflamed skin

Rose essential oil: shown to have antiseptic, antiviral and antibacterial qualities

Marketing label: The Almond Grain Exfoliant gently removes dead skin cells and leaves a soft glowing complexion. It is beneficial for all skin types.  It can be used as a manual exfoliant as well as a nourishing mask.

After 4 weeks of use, 2-3 times a week, I found the almond exfoliant gentle, yet effective in lightly sloughing off my skin and definitely helped me maintain a healthy glow. It's super easy to use and perfect for those who enjoy a manual scrub as well as a mask treatment.
