MyChelle Dermaceuticals Perfect C Serum

It’s been months since I’ve wanted to write this review!

MyChelle Dermaceuticals Perfect C Serum is marketed to strengthen collagen and improve skin texture. After only 2 months of use, I had already noticed smoother skin and less fine lines around my eyes! (and yes, I was very skeptical in the beginning!)

The serum uses a blend of actives mixed with witch hazel, denatured grain alcohol, vegetable glycerin, and essential oils of tangerine peel, lavender and pink grapefruit to name a few.

Whether the active, Buddleja Davidii Stems G™ truly protects against photodamage, more studies are needed to prove. However, one IRB study found Buddleja Davidii Stems G™ provided significant sun protection against UVA rays.

Another ingredient in this Perfect C Serum, L-Ergothioneine is a natural skin antioxidant and has been shown to efficiently scavenge free radicals and absorb ultraviolet radiation (UVR), thereby blocking the harmful effects of UVR on DNA (woo hoo!).

L-Ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) is a known antioxidant offering UV photoprotection as well as beneficial for stimulating our skin’s collagen to grow.

The serum has a pungent orange-y aroma, is light and easy to apply on your skin. It does however leave a slight sticky feeling after the serum has dried. The serum comes in a white ceramic like pump bottle with an air tight cap. I can’t say how effective the cap is in preventing the Vitamin C from oxidizing; however, I do know stabilizing Vitamin C and preventing it from oxidation is a challenge for manufacturers.

Although this blend contains witch hazel and grain alcohol, the formula works for my skin and is not irritating at all. My skin feels tingly when I apply the serum after exfoliating with a scrub. If you’re worried about break outs, I can only report the 1 or 2 miniscule pink bumps I experienced on a weekly basis. What made me look past the miniscule breakouts you ask? How about pretty radiant and youthful looking skin?!!

I confess to starting out as a real skeptic in terms of any noticeable benefits but after 2 months of using MyChelle’s Perfect C Serum, I have indeed noticed healthier, firmer skin. My cheeks are firmer, tighter and there are less fine lines underneath the lower eyelids. I feel my skin texture is smoother and complexion, brighter.

I do want to mention while using this Vitamin C serum, I also used MyChelle Dermaceuticals NoTox Serum. It could be possible some of the skin benefits I noted were as a result of using both products. I cannot tell if one product was more beneficial than the other. I can say for sure, MyChelle’s Perfect C Serum is definitely a favorite Vitamin C serum and achieved for me what the product markets itself for. I definitely look forward to using a second bottle. With biweekly use, a 0.5 ounce bottle lasted me at least 2 months.
